STUDENT INNOVATION HOUSE
In Frederiksberg (Denmark) an old Police station is being transformed into a student innovative house for students of Copenhagen Business School, as well as the Copenhagen community. An announcement was made for students studying construction to share their design ideas.
The building is protected, and the renovation would have to be interior or in the courtyard (out of sight). A number of rooms were requested with specific functions (such as an administration, offices, conference rooms, but also a market place, a café, a green oasis…to attract the public). The aim of the renovation was also to make the building as sustainable as possible by using upcycled material for example.
As a group we decided to open up the building, adding a café in the courtyard, opening the roof of an adjacent building to create the green oasis requested, to use the basement (which hosted the services area and prison cells) as a lounge and network space.
From concept to technical stage, all drawings were made, as well as all documentation, services study, and price calculations.
As an individual assignment, I focused on the green oasis to show how the roof would be cut, and structure of the new veranda placed. My choice of indoor materials was aimed towards upcycled wood to make it as carbon neutral as possible.
